Pratt & Whitney PW200
The PW200 program will see Piaggio Aero Industries manufacture a significant percentage of the PW206 and PW207 engine components, assemble these into the full engine, test and deliver to the end Customer P&WC Turbo Eng Corp as fully certified products and then have the capability and agreements in place to Maintain, Repair and Overhaul the engines during their life in service.
The PW200 program cuts across and impacts all aspects and functions of Piaggio Aero’s engine business and this has required the company to deploy new strategies, make major levels of machine tool capital investment, re-organize facilities, implement increased levels of lean production activities and invest in new facility equipment in readiness to accept the full program rate within the end of 2010 including the new engine assembly and also preparing the company for the potential MRO future market.
The business model used for the partnership on the PW200 program with Pratt & Whitney Canada is one that the company is now following for other new potential programs and customers
